Six Period French Empire Open Armchairs
A rare set of six French Empire period open arm chairs in well figured and carved mahogany; each with a square back topped by a bow shaped carved frieze featuring folliate rosettes, and downscrolled dolphin arms; two stamped ‘Louis’ whose firm provided furniture for a number of royal residences including the Chateau of Saint Cloud and the Tuileries in Paris; all have their original needlepoint. The two shown have been re-upholstered, (over the original), with new silk from Lyon; the chairs have their original casters. Also available in sets of two. France circa 1825.
