A rare late 18th Century Russian or possible Prussian neo-classical chandelier , having twelve arms around a central gilded bronze corona pierced with round cut crystals; the corona suspended from three gilded chains pierced with crystals; the lower section comprises a ‘webbed’ basket of graduated crystals terminating in a gilded disk and pineapple finial; the central decorative stem featuring a baluster shaped hand blown turquoise glass vase topped with gilded bronze ‘waterfall’ sprays; a second smaller turquoise glass ‘vase’ is hung from the top inside a second small gilt bronze band again hung with crystal sprays. The arms of the chandelier are presently not wired, although both the central and top coronna have an added circular band of internal electrified uplights. Provenance: Reportedly from a middle eastern Royal family.
