Period French Empire Chariot Clock
$5,900.00
A fine French Empire clock depicting a winged cupid riding a chariot being drawn by doves atop gilded clouds. The wheel of the chariot houses the open dial with a narrow white enamel outer band on which are painted the numerals. The whole sits on a rectangular gilded base with a decorative frieze across the entire front showing cupids at play. The gilded base rests on a further white marble base with toupie feet. It is believed that the movement has been replaced with another period French movement of the period. The movement has a silk-string suspension system and rings the hours and halfs on a bell.
