Painting of a Young Boy with His Dog after Henry Raeburn

The oil painting on canvas is of a young boy ‘hugging’ his dog, which lies on the boy’s lap. It is very much in the style of the Scottish painter Henry Raeburn. The boy is dressed in an early 19th century style dark suit having a white frilly collar; a rich red velvet drape hangs in the background with an idyllic landscape beyond. The canvas is mounted in a later carved wood and gilt frame, Scottish/English, early 19th century.
