Bronze Port Cochere Lantern

A monumental cast bronze and frosted glass porte cochere lantern ; likely Italian from the early 20thC; the lantern was allegedly originally hung in an important public building in downtown San Francisco which was sadly torn down; the main body of the lantern is suspended from eight scroll arms featuring beautifully cast lion’s masks; each frosted piece of glass panel is bordered by either rosettes; swags or palmettes; while this cannot be verified, the lantern may have also been featured as a prop in a set in the classic Hollywood movie “Gone with the Wind.”
