Louis XVI Style Green marble and Gilt Bronze Cassolettes
A pair of lidded urns in the Louis XVI style, the bronzes very much in the manner of the famous French sculptor Gouthiere. The tri-form base richly decorated with gilt bronze trim supports three ‘legs’ each terminating in a goat’s head, which in turn hold the round marble body of the urn also decorated with a circular gilt bronze frieze of playing putti. The detachable lids are topped with a gilded acorn. French circa 1880.
