Lord Byron Bronze Atop a Marble and Gilt Bronze Clock Base
A finely cast bronze bust of Lord Byron signed Hans Fromm, set on top of a round fluted griotte marble column base that holds the movement and the dial; the case decorated gilt bronze ormolu banding, trim and mounts. This type of clock base was popular in the Napoleon III era as it allowed various decorative bronzes to be displayed in this fashion. The bronze bust is also not attached to the base, merely paired together. France circa 1880.
