Large 19thC Neo-Classical Oil Painting Of Emperor Trajan on Horseback


A large dramatic and colorful painting of the young emperor Trajan on rearing horseback entering Rome amid a chaotic mass of young and old people all round him. Many beg him for help as his supporters try and keep them away from him. Roman arches and red flags present a colorful background. Painted in France circa 1850 in the style of Gericault or Delacroix. A stamp on the back of the canvas indicates the canvas was from Rouen, France. Presented in a large gold leaf carved wood frame.
