French Empire Style Patinated and Gilt Bronze Victory Sconces

A dramatic pair of French Empire style wall sconces in finely chased patinated and gilded bronze. The large winged Victory stands on a gilded globe studded with stars and holds a gilded wreath in each outstretched hand; atop her head sits a gilded disk from which five candle arms are attached topped with a further gilded urn. The original candle holders were recently wired for electricity. A near pair is in the Palace of Compiegne outside Paris. French early to mid 19thC.
