French Empire Salon Set After Jean Francois Bellange

This three piece salon set is designed in the pure early 19thC French Empire style. The finely carved frames are simple in design and feature rosettes palmettes and acanthus. The arms and front legs of each piece terminate in a gilded ball. The pure gold leafing to the entire frames is still in very good condition. The furniture dates from the 19thC but how close to the actual empire period is not known. The designs and construction are very similar to the work of Francois Bellange (born 1744 died 1818) whose work can be found in the White House in Washington D.C. The set is upholstered in an empire style green silk which shows some wear but could be cleaned if desired.
