A fine French antique gilt bronze figural group titled “Pro Patria” meaning “For one’s country” in Latin, and designed by Edouard Drouot; (French, 1859-1945). The statue depicts a female figure, (a winged Victory) supporting a soldier ready for battle who is equipped with a sword and shield. The figures are raised on a circular gilt bronze plinth having the title “Pro Patria ” on a plate attached to the front. The bronze is signed E.Drouot on the base and bears the foundry nark BD Paris’
