French Empire Gilt Bronze Urn Clock with Dragon Handles

A fine and rare model French Empire “urn” mantle clock with dragon handles. The clock is entirely of gilded bronze with original fire gilding. The urn-shaped case is surmounted with a pineapple finial; on either side of the 4.5″ white enamel dial are fire-breathing climbing dragons. The case is totally embellished with decorative empire ornaments. The clock has it’s original silk-string suspension movement ringing the hours and halves on a bell. Paris circa 1810.
