Crystal and Mahogany Empire Portico Clock

A unique example of a late French Empire portico clock. The four pillars linking the top and bottom sections of the clock are made of finely cut crystal and have original fire gilded bronze capitals and bases. There are also gilt bronze decorative mounts to the bottom and top mahogany sections. The original clock movement has a decorative gilt bronze pendulum hanging from a silk string suspension system. The bezel and dial, with brequet hands, are also of gilded bronze. French circa 1830.
