Bronze Cassolettes after a model by Clodion
A pair of French lidded gilt bronze and patinated bronze cassolettes after a popular model by the 18th century sculptor Clodion. The lids and circular urn bases are gilded and sit on a circular griotte marble base, (the whole on a later further shaped griotte marble base likely added for height). The patinated body of the urn features two side horned grotesque heads joined with a garland above frolicking cupids; French circa 1890.
