Chinese Carved Fluorite/ ‘Jadeite’ Table Lamp

A decorative Chinese carved pink fluorite lamp of vase shape. The stone is carved in the round with exotic birds, peonies and the detachable top is carved as a stylized carp. The ‘vase’ sits on a carved rosewood base on a further decorated ‘bronzed’ base. The lamp has it’s original pink carved stone finial and comes with a new pleated silk shade.

This particular genre of lamps which are typically of carved green fluorite were made in China in the second quarter of the 20th century. The carved bodies and bases were then sent to the U.S. for wiring and subsequently sold in very high end retail stores. Chinese, circa 1935.
