A set of Six Late 19thC Empire Style Dining Chairs

A very nice set of dining/occasional chairs; two open armchairs and four side chairs in what is referred to as ‘gondola’ shape. The chair frames are of mahogany and are richly decorated with gilded bronze mounts featuring a classical female head within a gilded circle on the inside back of each chair. The sloping back side rails join the seat frame behind the front legs. The drop-in seats have been recently upholstered in a blue/gold striped velvet. The chairs were likely made in France towards the end of the 19thC.
