A Pair of Louis XIV/XV style carved Beechwood Armchairs

A pair of good scale Louis XIV, Louis XV style open arm chairs, the frames in deeply carved stained beechwood. The back of the chair is slightly reclined. The shaped back/top with rounded shoulders has a large carved shell in the middle flanked with scroll work as is the front of the chair seat and the two front curved legs, also topped with a shell and scroll. The chairs have been recently re-upholstered in a striped/floral silk. French circa 1890.
