A classic French Empire period day bed made out of solid flamed mahogany raised on block feet and straight edge identical head and foot boards decorated with gilt bronze busts of Female Egyptian Heads emblematic of the Empire Period in general and Pierre Philippe Thomire in particular. Ebonized and gilt wood tazze and urns are featured at the four top corners of the foot and head boards.
Examples of almost identical beds are displayed in one of Napoleon’s bedrooms at Malmaison and in another bedroom dedicated to the Empire Period at the Palace of Fontainbleu. Refer to last two photos in the photo gallery. France Circa 1810
