The lower door opens to reveal a white marble lined bottom with an air circulation hole in the back of the compartment; (possibly a bedside table later re-fitted to store cigars). All sides of the case including the fluted legs are inlaid with gilded brass fillets; the table also has a lower shelf between the four legs. Made in France in the last quarter of the 19thC.
