Swiss Mid-century Table Clock and Cigarette Case by Luxor, 1950s
Unusual Lux combination table clock and cigarette holder from the early 1950s still in working order. This brass antique desk or side table clock would make a fine addition to a vintage clock collection or look wonderful in any Mid Century decor. The clock face is set into a world globe shape surrounded by a band with six stars. The base also has a compartment originally for cigarettes or it could be used as a holder for change or other bits.
This Lux clock is in good vintage condition with some minor scratches and tarnish in keeping with its 60 years of aging. It isn working order and keeps good time. The dial reads Made in U.S.A. and the back reads Lux Clock Mfg. Co. Waterbury Connecticut. The brass case has a thick beveled front glass. Measures: Height 5.9″(15cm), width 5.9″(15cm), depth (open) 3.9″(10cm). Marked “Luxor 8 Days Swiss Made” on the dial (see photo). Original eight day mechanism. Works perfectly.
