Swinging Putto Clock
A late 19th century French swinging putto ‘mystery’ clock. The clock drum has a gilded bronze bezel and is supported on two gilt scrolling front legs which are supported on an rectangular ebonized wood base with a front gilded mount. The white enamel chapter ring surrounds a partially skeletonized movement. The pendulum is a seated cherub on a swing which moves forward and back versus sideways. The clock has a ‘bell’ jar glass cover.
