A heavily carved stained oak centre table in the Renaissance revival center table, the deep carving almost in the round. The round top has a wide apron entirely carved with grotesque masks and ‘organic’ decoration; the underside of the top is also heavily carved. The top is connected to a smaller round base by another deeply carved ‘trunk’; on the round lower base sit three recumbent lions; the whole resting on three lions paw feet. A masterwork of carving. English/American circa 1850.
