Portrait of a Bearded French Military Officer

A mid to late 19thC oil on canvas depicting a French Military Officer, (although the sitter looks very Russian).  This handsome gentleman is presented in an oval canvas, (bearing a french retailers mark), and is further framed in an elaborate carved wood and gesso gilded frame of the period, (the frame now repainted).  French circa 1870.
