Pair of ‘Garde Meuble’ Empire Bronze Candelabra

An important pair of period French Empire candelabra the bases stamped with inventory marks from the Garde Meuble in Paris, (the repository of inventory from the French Royal collections as well as from major public institutions).  A patinated bronze Nike stands on a decorated circular gilded drum on a lower rectangular base and holds aloft five candle arms as well as a central candle arm. The original gilding and fine chasing make these an exception pair. The candelabra were wired as lamps at some point but have been restored to their original condition.  French circa 1815.
