Napoleon III Gilt Bronze Table Centre and Matching Candelabra
A very finely cast and gilded bronze table centre and matching candelabra of impressive scale. The set is comprised of an oval shaped dish with lattice borders interlaced with large flowers supported by a pair of winged cherubs holding flower garlands and grape leaves; the cupids lie on an elaborate Louis XV rococo style scrolling base with all-over grape leaves and garlands.
The pair of candelabra exactly match the style of the centre piece with three cherubs standing/lying on a rococo base holding aloft a floral cornucopia from which rise nine swirling candle arms; a central stem terminates in a large gilded flame.
The set has recently been professionally cleaned showing the quality of the original gilding.
The set would date from the second/third quarter of the 19thC; made in Paris; and exemplifies the Napoleon III taste in elaborate furnishings.
