Louis XV Style Longcase Clock After Lieutaud
A fine quality Louis XV style longcase clock, the case modeled after ones made by the 18thC cabinetmaker Francois Lieutaud. The shaped oak carcass is completely veneered in kingwood, amaranth, mahogany and various other exotic woods and further decorated with fine gilded bronze mounts. The case is surmounted by a winged figure of ‘Father Time’; the whole case sitting on large lions paw feet. The gilded dial with its inset white and blue enamel numerals is signed Martinot a Paris, after the 18thC clockmaker of the same name. The original movement rings the hours and half on a gong.
