Louis XVI-Style Ormolu and Onyx Clock
A louis XVI-style ormolu and onyx clock with a white onyx case of architectural form. The clock has fluted pilasters on each side of the dial and is highly decorated with the finest chased and gilded bronze mounts, incorporating quivers and arrows, cornucopia and more. The rectangular rounded breakfront plinth base is decorated with foliated scrolls and floral ornaments, it all sits on six ormolu chiseled feet. The 5 1/2″ white enamel dial with Roman numerals bears the name of Raingo Freres, Paris; a pre-eminent bronzier and clock maker in late 19th century France. The eight day movement with steel string suspension system rings the hours and half on a bell.
