French Meuble D’Appui circa 1870
A fine example of Napoleon III furniture; the ebonized cabinet with overall brass inlay, gilded bronze mounts and trim, and a fine central oval patinated bronze plaque. The cabinet has a conforming white marble top over an inlaid brass apron; the front door with overall brass inlay has a central oval gilt framed patinated plaque depicting two cupids at play with their musical instruments and garlands. Each side of the cabinet has a finely chased and gilded mount depicting two turtle doves. The mounts are all of very finely chased and gilded bronze. France circa 1870.
