French Louis XV “Ecoignure” or Corner Cabinet
An elegantly simple French Louis XV period serpentine fronted wooden corner cabinet veneered with quarter panels of kingwood applied to form a distinct butterfly pattern. The “ecoignure” as it is called in French, is presented with its original hand cut breche grey marble top. The cupboard has a single curved door that reveals an interior fitted with two shelves. On the back, the cupboard bears the stamp of the Garde Meuble Public Bedel et cie, 18 rue Saint Augustin Paris Inventaire N°19368. Circa 1740.
