French Beaded Crystal Chandelier in the Shape of a Flower Basket
A highly unusual early 20thC beaded crystal chandelier in the shape of a flower basket. The entire metal frame of the chandelier is covered in crystal beads and gold painted balls. The basket itself is made of criss crossed beaded chains joined by rosettes. Larger rosettes form the top of the basket, with side decorative sprays and crystal encrusted rods spraying out from the inside. The inside of the basket is full of additional beading including five light sockets each with a pink crystal beaded ‘jacket’ to cover the bulb. When the unrestored chandelier was purchased in Paris it was marked as being from the French Napoleon III era. However, it was more likely made during the early 20thC in Paris, and very likely made by the firm Bagues.
