Standing Cupid Empire Clock
A French Empire clock showing a standing cupid. The totally gilded bronze case of this clock with its original fire gilding shows a standing winged cupid to the right of the clock plinth housing the movement with its white enamel dial. Cupid points up to a ‘picture frame’ on top of the clock plinth showing another winged cupid. To the left of the clock plinth are various attributes of Cupid including a quiver and arrows. The stepped base of the clock is richly embellished with various gilded ornaments. The clock has it’s original silk-string movement ringing the hours and halfs on a bell. French circa 1825.
