Early French Empire Barometer and Clock Desk Set
A rare matched pair of French Empire ‘desk’ ornaments comprising a set of clock and barometer. A classical maiden in patinated bronze stands beside the clock or barometer plinth, one holding a book, the other holding a gilded lyre; the silvered clock dial is set within a ‘library’ styled patinated plinth. The rectangular base is of red griotte marble and sits on four gilded lion’s paw feet. France, circa 1820.
