Early 20th Century Mechanical Wind Up French Singing Bird Cage Automaton

A brass wire cage with knob finial and loop handle; set on a slivered brass base with an ornate repousse frieze of frolicking putti; the whole supported by three turned brass feet; the cage has two animated feathered singing birds, one raised on a leafy perch, the other on the floor of the cage. Through a fixed key wind at the bottom of the cage, the birds swivel their heads and flap their tail feathers while they alternate singing. In very good working condition with vibrant sound and brisk motion. The cage was likely made in France with Swiss made mechanicals.
