Art Deco glazed Terracotta Statue

A large and important painted and glazed terracotta Art Deco statue of a tall standing nude woman having slightly orientalist features; her right hand holding aloft a bird, her left arm hanging beside her hip, a colourful sash around her torso. She stands on a circular base; at her feet are entwined ‘grape’ leaves and vines which circle back around her and cover her back with bunches of colourful ‘grapes’.

A fantastic example of decorative arts of the 1920’s – 1930’s. While unsigned it is very likely that the piece was produced by the Wiener Werkstatte (Keramik) factory in Vienna.
