An Impressionist Style Painting of a Southern Ontario Autumn by J. Blett
A Canadian oil painting on hardboard in the impressionist style of a Southern Ontario Autumn scene. This genre of painting was/is very popular in Canada and the United States, primarily because the autumn leaves are so colourful. The painting is presented in the original giltwood frame and is signed J.Blett and dated 1964.
The painting was done by a relatively obscure artist Julie Blett. Thanks to a note glued to the back of the painting it says that Mrs Blett was born and raised in Gibson’s Landing British Columbia and that as a small child she was inspired by the natural beauty of her surroundings. Nothing else could be found about her in the usual art reference materials.
