A Boulle work Louis XV Longcase clock the movement signed Duval
A Boulle work and gilt bronze 18thC Louis XV clock on a 19thC Boulle and Gilt Bronze pedestal. The movement signed Duval Paris
The domed case surmounted by a sea nymph sitting on dolphins and holding a lobster in one hand and a ‘paddle’ in the other. The case with chamfered corners is topped with urns and faced with half maidens holding aloft cornucopia and supported on four scrolling legs topped with ram’s heads. Below the dial is a large gilded bronze ornament depicting Phoebus on a chariot drawn by two horses and riding atop clouds.
The pedestal is of wasted form, the large top central ornament being the face of a goddess with a plumed head dress, the ebonized plinth richly inlaid with brass in a Chinoiserie design and further ornamented in gilded bronze.
